Hammad Mohamed Kasim was born in Kenya on 29th May, 1950. He grew up in Lamu, Malindi and Mombasa. After finishing secondary education he joined Egerton College, Njoro to study agriculture. However, due to circumstances he had to leave studies and joined the judiciary as Chief Kadhi’s secretary.

In 1975 he got a scholarship to study in Baghdad of Science Physics Department. Due to the Iraq/Iran war he moved to Saudi Arabia where he joined college of education(teaching science). He then travelled back to Kenya to start a secondary school known as Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayyed Al-Nahyan Secondary and Technical School where he taught Physics, Mathematics, Arabic and Islamic Religious Education.

In 1991 he got a scholarship to study a master’s degree program of Arabic and Islamic Studies. Upon his return to Kenya he continued teaching for some months before he was appointed by the Judiciary to be Kadhi whereby he served in Lamu and Nairobi.

In 2002 he was appointed Chief Kadhi Of Kenya a post he held until he retired in 2010. During that time he served as Chief Kadhi he was also the chairman of the Wakf Commissioners of Kenya. He was also served as a member  of the council for Umma University (Kenya) after retiring from the Judiciary he opened his own office Sharia Family Resources Center in Mombasa, Kenya. Currently he is serving in various institutions dealing with sharia matters such as ABSA (Former Barclays), NBK Amana Service and recently in Takaful Insurance of Africa as SSC Member. He is also active in the academic institutions where he chairs the management board of Sheikh Khalifa and Secondary Technical School and a government school by the name of Sheikh Alfarsy Secondary School.

He also serve as member B.O.G Wamy High School.
Recently he was appointed to be a member of the Jamia Mosque Majlis Ulamaa. For 3 years now he has been having a weekly 2 hour programme in Radio Rahma, “Uliza Ujue” (ask so that you get to know).
