Dr. Muhsin Salim Masoud

Dr Muhsin Salim Masoud Joined Amana Bank limited in May 2015 as the Managing Director until September 2020, after serving on the Board of Directors as a member and Chairman of the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee since the inception of the bank in 2011. Since stepping in as the Managing Director, with a clear strategic vision and creative thinking; his leadership strategically aligned the bank’s progress to an immediate breakeven point in 2015 and being able to maintain positive bottom lines and persistent increases in the balance sheet size since 2016 until the time he left the Bank. With great passion for improving lives of a common man, since taking on Amana Bank, he was the driving force for introduction of various products and services in line with the overall bank’s direction of increasing financing to the SMEs, Small Businesses, Solidarity Groups and households’ sectors which have had notable impact to the society. The bank has also managed to on board more customers who are small servers through the introduction of Mass acquisition strategy and increase of agents and branches throughout the country. He was a driving force on improving governance structure of the bank in terms of Board Composition and committees and realignment of organizational structure. There had been an emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility on issues touching various stakeholders of the bank and more specifically employees and customers. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Dar es Salaam.

He did a Bachelor of Business Studies in Accounting at the Islamic University in Uganda, MSc. Finance at the Strathclyde University in UK and Licentiate of Philosophy at the Umea University in Sweden. Prior to joining Amana Bank, Dr. Muhsin served as a lecturer and Associate Dean at the University of Dar es Salaam Business School for more than 16 Years participating in various researches and short-term trainings with a main focus on Corporate Social Responsibility, Business Ethics, Accounting Education, and Stakeholders related issues. He has published in local and international journals in the areas of Accounting and Management as well as in the proceedings of International Conferences. Before joining the University of Dar es Salaam in September 1999 Dr. Muhsin started his University teaching career at the Islamic University in Uganda in January 1995.
